Who was Finnigan Danne?

Finnigan Danne a missing person story that unfortunately ended in tragedy. The 12-year-old went missing on Saturday, August 6 at approximately 10:15 am. An intense search party that involved his family, neighbors, and police took place.  The next day, after 27 hours from the time he had been seen last, he was finally found. But instead of bringing happiness, the news was tragic.

Little Finnigan was found dead in a culvert located 200 meters from his house. Police reports stated that he had died shortly after he went missing. There are still questions about this story that need to be answered.  The search included dogs that had already searched the area where the body was found. The body was discovered after a neighbor reported seeing something in the culvert.

Finnigan Danne was a small thin boy, blue eyed with blond hair. He had a neuromuscular disease that made his motions limited and he walked with a limp. Police reports stated that Danne fell into the culver and died shortly after he went missing.  He had gone to look for his missing cat Bella.  This was, as his father said, the first time the 12-year-old had set to go out alone.  This was mainly due to his condition.

The gate was open that Saturday.  "He went on this little adventure on his own," his dad said. "He was always in our care, so it must have been rather exciting for him to be on his own.” The genetic condition Finnigan suffered was called alternating hemiplegia of childhood (AHC), which is so rare that pediatric neurologists only see a case or two in their entire careers. Their parents already knew that his life was going to be rather short.

He went through a lot of suffering due to this condition.  For his first six years of life, he spent most of his time in McMaster Children's Hospital. His family is now just very grateful for all the help they received from friends and relatives.
